Grant Accounting

Workshop: Accounting For Grants

Grants and/or government contracts are the key income source for many not-for-profits. Where a NFP derives its income from many different such sources for many different purposes, accounting and accountability can become very complex and overwhelming.

This workshop covers:

–          Differences between government contracts, donations, sponsorships, grants for operational and project purposes, and grants for capital purposes.

–          Not all grants are equal: differentiation of grants required by the new Financial Reporting Standards for Charities.

–          Tracking liabilities arising from grant money and from government contracts.

–          Distinguishing between grant tracking and project tracking.
